Due to a few reason I choose not to explain, I am taking this blog off the interwebs.   I am thinking of making it private, but at the same time, do not feel the urge to keep posting.  That has yet to be determined.

I would like to thank all of my readers for sticking with me over the past 2+ years, and I may still be around reading and commenting on your blogs.  I just don’t feel the need to keep updating this site.

So, see you all around sometime.  I may or may not be back some day in the future.

Slinger, OUT!

Fall TV.

Well the new seasons are starting on TV.  Also some new shows are starting.  The new one last night was from LOST/Alias creator J.J. Abrams and has been heavily promoted and hyped.

Fringe debuted last night, and I was very pleased with it.  And by “pleased” I really mean “it was frickin’ cool as hell” and I watched it twice on DVR.

I would say it kind of borders on the combination of X-Files, Twilight Zone and LOST.  If that makes any sense.  A few LOST similarities thrown in as well, mainly the opening theme of air travel tied to a disaster.  After watching the pilot episode, I was also reminded of a certain LOST tie in from a few seasons ago, but it just reminded me of it, and had no relation to this show.

Anyway, the only thing that I fear about this show is that it is on FOX.  Over the past years, some very good shows (Firefly, Drive) debuted on FOX, but were cancelled way too early.  While other “not so good shows” continue to be renewed (Prison Break).

So let’s hope the numbers were good for the pilot episode last night and this show sticks around for at least a complete season.

I must apologize.

I have not been the best blogger lately.  I post here and there – due to the limits of our network at work.

That’s part of the reason.

I also have been very, VERY lazy at reading/commenting on everyone else’s blogs.  I may not be commenting, but I AM reading them with the help of Google Reader.

So don’t think I am ignoring you all.  Well, not ALL of you, anyway. (you know who you are) [seriously, I have no idea what that meant]

Things like work, children, children’s activities, and having a life – sort of get in the way with blogging.

I just felt like I should let you know that I am still around, just enjoying my life and family more.  So there.

Oh, and also been spending more time on Facebook playing Scrabble.

I am working from home and watching what may be my #1 all-time favorite film; Full Metal Jacket.

Vincent D’Onofrio plays the part perfectly, and at you actually feel bad for Private Pile.  Until he snaps.

What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?!

And let’s not forget Adam Baldwin as Animal Mother and R. Lee Ermey playing drill sergeant Hartman.

Where did summer go?

How is it that 3 days ago it was 95 degrees, and now it is 62??  I know this summer has been relatively mild, especially August.  but I at least expected it to be in the high 70’s unitl the end of September!

Ok, we all know Midwest summers don’t really end after Labor Day. The chances that the end of September will still see temps in the high 70’s are pretty good.

This weekend we relaxed at the river and enjoyed some cloudless, almost 90 degree weather, with low humidity. We went swimming, went for boat rides, roasted marshmallows and we even did a little fishing. I couldn’t think of a better way to end the “summer”.

So while some of you were actually posting blog entries, more than 2 or 3 even! I was making sure that the UV rays baked my bald head one more time, and my body would be sore a few more days from riding the wave runners.

Even though my shoulders feel like Andre the Giant gave me a massage, and my thighs feel like I rode a bull all weekend, not to mention my head is a bit sore and itchy…it was well worth it to not watch much TV, have no phones ringing and not reading anything on the internet. Well, I did get a few emails on my BlackBerry, but that doesn’t count.

A week of firsts.

This week has been a busy week so far.  Last week, my oldest son turned FIVE, and this week he started all the little kid things.

This week Ryan had his first soccer game.  He did very good and even though they don’t keep score, he scored a few goals.  It is cute, they play 4-on-4 with no goalies, to make it more fun for the kids.

Here he is scoring his first goal.  He actually blew the ball right past this little guy and into the goal.  I never knew he had such kicking accuracy!  Soon I will get him his first tat and soon he will be better than Beckham, and maybe more tattoos!

Suck on it, Beckham

Suck on it, Beckham

Then today was his first day of Kindergarten! Unbelievable that he is already going to school!  We walked him to the bus stop today and he jumped right on and didn’t even look back.  It’s so funny to see him growing into such a little man.

Here comes the bus!

Here comes the bus!
